The league will broadcast the remainder of the 2021/22 season on the Google-owned site

Serie A have signed a deal to continue their distribution of live matches for free in the Middle East and North Africa. An agreement was made at the start of this season to make available select Serie A fixtures on YouTube within the region, after the league failed to secure a more traditional deal with a broadcaster. This deal has now been expanded to include coverage of every fixture for the remainder of this campaign via live streaming.

Where before fans would have access to only five games per match-week on the platform, they will now have ten matches to choose from. What's more, every game will have Arabic commentary, provided either by the Serie A broadcasting centre in Lissone, Italy, or in the case of one game per week, a commentary team based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There will also be a dedicated pre/post match studio show filmed live at the stadium and produced entirely in Arabic.

The expansion started with the Derby di Milano last weekend (Feb 5) between Inter and Milan and will continue with Napoli's meeting with Inter this Saturday (Feb 12). Thereafter, every Serie A match will be available to live stream for free in the MENA region.

Serie A chief executive, Luigi De Siervo, said: “Thanks to the technical possibilities offered by the new IBC in Lissone we will offer spectators the full Serie A spectacle and a great pre and post match event for a big match in every round of the championship, starting with the Derby of Milan. We are confident that this major production effort will bring further international value to our brand and allow us to increase our fan base in a very important area.”

Serie A continues to search for a deal with a broadcaster in the MENA region but until now has had no success. The league is said to be actively seeking a new collaboration, with the goal to bring in around €50 million per season. With the deal struck to broadcast the remainder of the season for free on YouTube, any new agreement is likely to commence at the start of next season.
