Respo.Vision's innovative AI technology extracts 3D tracking data from single-camera feeds like TV broadcasts

Respo.Vision, a leading sports technology company, has successfully raised €4.2m (£3.55m) in its latest funding round to further develop its innovative AI-powered tracking system. The company's groundbreaking technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) to extract 3D tracking data from single-camera feeds such as TV broadcasts. This advanced system can detect over 50 body points per player in 3D space with centimetre-level accuracy.

In a significant achievement, the technology was recently certified by the FIFA Quality Programme for Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems. This certification implies that Respo.Vision's solution meets high standards of quality and reliability set by FIFA.

One of the key advantages of this system is that it eliminates the need for wearable devices, dedicated on-site hardware or technical crews, thereby significantly reducing costs.

Digital twin product

In addition to its primary tracking technology, Respo.Vision offers a separate digital twin product which leverages this data to create realistic recreations of real-life matches from a first-person perspective.

This innovative product also features automated visual overlays including contextual in-game graphics, match stats and branded elements along with natural language interfaces for analytics purposes - all aimed at enhancing viewer engagement and providing deeper insights into game dynamics.

Paweł Osterreicher, CEO and Co-founder of ReSpo.Vision, said:

“The way we watch football hasn’t fundamentally changed since the 1960s. We’re using AI to break that barrier - putting fans on the pitch, giving broadcasters next-gen storytelling tools, while providing clubs and federations with elite tactical insight.

“This funding is a strong endorsement of our vision to bring sport into a more interactive, intelligent era. Whether powering enhanced broadcasts, highlight reels, or second-screen experiences, we are helping rights-holders to deliver richer, more interactive content without costly production overheads. This funding round will help make this a reality for more competitions that have historically lacked access to the latest data and analysis innovations.”

Investment round details

The recent investment round was led by venture capital funds Vinci and Smartlink. Notably participating in this round was Southampton FC defender Jan Bednarek along with other prominent investors like Snowflake co-founder Marcin Zukowski and Wayve co-founder Amar Shah.

This influx of funding will enable Respo.Vision to continue refining their cutting-edge technologies while expanding their reach within the sports industry.

Respo.Vision's successful funding round underscores the growing interest in leveraging AI technology to enhance sports viewing and analysis. With its innovative solutions, the company is well-positioned to revolutionize the way we understand and engage with sports, offering exciting possibilities for fans, players, coaches and sports betting enthusiasts alike.
