Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has finally broken its silence on the ongoing rumours linking Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah to the French champions. This comes amidst uncertainty over Salah's future as his contract with Liverpool is set to expire in the summer.
In recent weeks, speculation has been rife about Salah's future at Liverpool. The Egyptian forward has been vocal about his ongoing contract negotiations with the club, which have reportedly stalled. This situation has attracted interest from some of the world’s biggest football clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.
However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently addressed these rumours in an interview with Sky Sports. He praised Salah as a "fantastic and amazing player," but categorically denied any plans for his transfer to PSG.
PSG president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, said:
“It’s not true. He’s a fantastic and amazing player, but we’ve never considered him, to be honest. We know every club would love to have him, but this rumour about us is simply not true.”
Contrary to Al-Khelaifi's statement, French media outlets reported just yesterday that talks had begun between Salah and PSG regarding a free transfer when his contract ends in summer 2022. These reports suggested that there was a "good chance" of seeing the 32-year-old winger playing at Parc des Princes next season - claims that are now being refuted by PSG itself.
Future plans for Paris Saint Germain
Despite denying interest in Mo Salah, it appears that Paris Saint Germain is keen on strengthening their attacking line-up ahead of next season. They are reportedly considering moves for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Rubin Kazan FC, Jadon Sancho from Manchester United FC and Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao FC this summer. Moreover, the PSG president hinted that the club might explore potential deals in January if they believe there are valuable options available.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi added:
“If there’s an opportunity, we will of course explore,"
Despite scoring a penalty against Manchester City recently and putting Liverpool 2-0 ahead of the Premier League champions, Salah's future remains uncertain. The recent denial from PSG leaves unanswered questions about where he will be playing next season.
While rumours continue to circulate about Mo Salah's future at Liverpool and potential transfer to other clubs, it seems that for now, a move to Paris Saint Germain is off the table. However, with his contract set to expire soon and negotiations seemingly at a standstill, only time will tell where this talented player will end up.
