Former Manchester United star, Paul Pogba, recently shared his thoughts on who he believes is currently the world's best football player. The French midfielder made this revelation during a livestream with popular creator IShowSpeed.
Since leaving Manchester United in 2022, Pogba has had quite a tumultuous journey. He played for Serie A club Juventus for a couple of years before being suspended from playing in September 2023 due to a failed drug test. Initially handed down in February 2024, the ban was set to last four years - an outcome that could have ended his career prematurely.
However, in October of the same year, it was reduced to just 18 months. This means that fans can expect to see him back on the field as early as March.
Pogba’s pick for best player
During his appearance on IShowSpeed’s livestream ahead of his comeback, Pogba didn't hesitate when asked who he thought was currently the best footballer.
Former Manchester United star, Paul Pogba, said:
"Honestly talking? I would give it to Vini. Vini's good and he's cold bro. Haaland also deserves it man and Harry Kane is scoring goals and goals."
The streamer also asked him about Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal following his breakout year playing in La Liga and with Spain at Euro 2024.
Paul Pogba added:
"Yeah, he's cold. Right now he's been killing it, at the Euros he had games and he was killing it. He's so young and he won it. He's the best young player in the world," claimed Pogba.
"Give him a few more months and can you imagine if he won the Champions League this year? He's 17, he still has homework!"
Vinicius misses out on Ballon d'Or Award
Interestingly enough, Pogba's praise of Vinicius comes just days after the Real Madrid winger missed out on winning the prestigious 2024 Ballon d'Or award. Many believed Vinicius deserved it due to his impressive season performance both in La Liga and Champions League. Instead, Manchester City midfielder Rodri claimed this coveted award after having won both Premier League with Manchester City and Euro 2024 with Spain.
Despite missing out on this accolade though, Vinicius continues showcasing exceptional talent; most recently equalising for Real Madrid against AC Milan in the Champions League after they went 1-0 down early in the match.
As Pogba prepares for his return to professional football, his insights on who he believes is currently the best player provide an interesting perspective. With Vinicius continuing to impress despite missing out on the Ballon d'Or award, it will be fascinating to see how these players perform in their upcoming matches and seasons.
