Paramount Australia and New Zealand, a branch of the global media and content firm, has extended its rights tie-up with Australian soccer's A-Leagues property for the next three seasons. This agreement will see Paramount ANZ continue to cover both the men's (12 team) and women's (11 team) A-League competitions through 2028-29.
Under this deal, all A-League men's and women's games will be available on the Paramount+ streaming service throughout the duration of the agreement. In addition to this comprehensive coverage, one men's game will be broadcast live every week on Network 10 - a channel fully owned by Paramount Skydance.
Network 10’s own streaming site will also host all A-League Women’s fixtures. Furthermore, highlights from all men’s and women’s games as well as full-match replays will be provided by Paramount+, ensuring fans have access to every moment of action.
Extended partnership
This latest deal extends an already fruitful partnership between Paramount ANZ and the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), which runs both A-Leagues. The total length of their collaboration now stands at eight years.
The previous contract between these two entities was made public in May 2021, running through until 2025-26 with an option for a three-year extension included in that contract.
The renewal came about after "an extensive open market process," according to statements from the APL. Both men's and women's seasons for 2026-27 are set to begin on October 16th, with this extension having been announced ahead of tomorrow’s final match for the season - May 23rd - in anticipation of high viewership numbers.
Record viewing figures
The decision to extend comes amidst record viewing figures on Paramount+ for the A-Leagues. The platform has seen a significant increase in viewership, with numbers up 55% overall from the 2021-22 season. This surge in popularity underscores the growing interest in Australian soccer and highlights the value of this partnership for both Paramount and A-League fans.
Steve Rosich, the APL chief executive, said:
"After an extensive open market process which showcased the demand and value of the A-Leagues, we’re really pleased to renew our partnership with Paramount+ and Network 10 – the home of Australian football.”
This extended partnership between Paramount ANZ and Australia's A-Leagues promises to deliver comprehensive coverage of men's and women's games to sports fans across Australia and New Zealand. With record viewing figures already being reported, it seems that this collaboration is set to continue benefiting both parties well into the future.
