Neymar did not star for Paris Saint Germain in their 4-1 win over Strasbourg at the weekend due to suspension, but he did find the time to post an image to his Instagram story which appeared to show him illegally streaming a match from his native Brazil on his laptop. It seems that Neymar was caught enjoying some football from his homeland and many were concerned that he was doing so illegally.

"Sexy singles" are in Neymar's area

Many regular users of illegal streams pointed out an obvious clue on social media. In the photo the Brazilian uploaded you can see a pop-up for "sexy singles" - these are a classic tell tale sign of a dodgy illegal stream. Apparently, "Nina, 28" was only 1km away from Neymar at the time. So Neymar was caught watching the game but let's hope he didn't fall for that one at least.

When a multi millionaire is watching an illegal stream

Something is wrong. Former Barcelona player and Champions League winner Neymar earns around £600k a week and is arguably the most famous football player in the world but still uses illegal streams, to the amusement of many lowly football fans on social media.

"I don't like to watch football when I'm not playing" Hmmm

The Brazilian's post also confused many given his previous statements about how he never watches football when he isn't playing. Paris Saint Germain's Neymar once said: "I don't like to watch football when I'm not playing. I don't like it. I rarely watch matches on TV. Very rarely. I watch it when my team is playing and I'm not playing, but other matches I don't like to watch. I feel very anxious because I have friends in most teams, so you root for your friend, hoping that he will do the right move. Anyway, I don't like it. So I try not to watch football." Interesting indeed.

Will Neymar face punishment for illegal stream?

Last year more than 7,000 people were sent letters by the police warning that if they continued to watch illegal streams they could face jail time. Those suspected of using IPTV and Kodi boxes to stream things like Sky Sports and BT Sports were warned by police they could be sent to prison for up to five years if they continue to break the law in this way. Kieron Sharp, CEO of the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT), said: "These notices are a direct and alarming wake up call for people using illegal streams. If you use illegal streaming services you are accountable for your actions and you will be pursued. This is not a grey area and it is not worth the risk."

Quite a scary warning from the nation's copyright body, but will Neymar face similar threats in France? We shall have to wait and see.
