The Magpies are looking to unlock another revenue stream through D2C platform

Newcastle United, in partnership with Endeavor Streaming, has unveiled a new direct-to-consumer (D2C) streaming service. This innovative platform is set to provide live coverage of the club's pre-season games and exclusive content related to the Premier League club.

The D2C streaming service will offer fans an unprecedented level of access to Newcastle United’s upcoming pre-season friendlies. The first game available for streaming will be against Championship club Hull City on Saturday 27 July. All pre-season games will be accessible via pay-per-view, marking a significant shift in how fans can engage with their favorite team.

Dan Ginger, director of brand, marketing and digital media at Newcastle United, said:

“The implementation of Endeavor Streaming is another step forward in our commitment to bringing fans closer to the club, providing an unparalleled digital experience, ensuring our supporters have seamless access to exclusive content and live matches. We are excited about the possibilities this collaboration brings and look forward to engaging with our global fanbase in new and dynamic ways.”

In addition to live match coverage, subscribers can look forward to exclusive content such as player interviews, highlights, full match replays and original documentaries. This comprehensive range of content aims at providing a holistic fan experience that extends beyond the pitch.

International coverage and exclusive access

The service also promises live coverage of Newcastle United’s tour of Japan as part of the J. League International Series 2024. This tour serves as preparation for the 2024/25 Premier League season and includes matches against Urawa Red Diamonds (July 31) and Yokohama F Marinos (August 3).

Upon returning from Japan, Newcastle United will open the Sela Weekender against Spanish LaLiga side Girona FC on August 9th. The women’s team is also set to face European opposition AC Milan Women in The Sela Cup on August 10th while men's team defend their title against Stade Brestois.

Members subscribing to this D2C platform will also have access to select fixtures involving Newcastle United Women, U21s and U18s during the season - further enhancing its value proposition for dedicated fans.

Powered by Endeavor Streaming’s Vesper Platform

This innovative service is powered by Endeavor Streaming’s Vesper platform. The platform enables leagues and rights holders to build on and deliver direct-to-consumer streaming experiences for their fans. It will be available within the NewcastleUnited.com website and the NUFC iOS and Android apps.

Fred Santarpia, president at Endeavor Streaming, said:

“Football fans are some of the most passionate, engaged fans in the world and Endeavor Streaming has established itself as a key strategic partner in clubs’ audience engagement strategy. We’re proud to work with Newcastle United to bring its global fanbase even more live action, exclusive content and personalized experiences, to help build deeper, more meaningful relationships.”

The launch of this D2C streaming service represents a significant step forward in sports broadcasting, offering fans unprecedented access to their favorite team's content. As technology continues to evolve, it's clear that direct-to-consumer platforms like this are set to play an increasingly important role in how sports fans engage with their teams.
