Along with the men's matches, Movistar Plus will also telecast games from this season's Women's FA Cup

Spanish pay-TV broadcaster, Movistar Plus, has acquired domestic rights to prestigious FA Cup. The deal will run through the 2027-28 season and is set to feature several high-profile Spanish players.

Movistar Plus will cover the remaining rounds of this season's competition – including the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final – as well as the 2026-27 and 2027-28 editions. This marks a significant shift from previous years when sports subscription platform DAZN held broadcasting rights for the FA Cup in Spain.

The move comes at an exciting time with various high-profile Spanish national team players still competing in this season's tournament. These include Rodri (Manchester City), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), and Martin Zubimendi (Arsenal). Notably, Arsenal is also managed by Spaniard Mikel Arteta.

Expanding coverage

In addition to men’s games, Movistar Plus will also broadcast action from this season's Women's FA Cup. Furthermore, it will showcase the Community Shield curtain-raiser between winners of the FA Cup and Premier League scheduled for August. The quarter-final matches are Manchester City vs Liverpool, Chelsea vs Port Vale, Southampton vs Arsenal, and West Ham United vs Leeds United. These games are set to take place across April 4th and 5th weekend.

Movistar Plus' acquisition of these rights adds another feather to its cap of sports coverage. The broadcaster already holds domestic rights to Spain's Copa del Rey for seasons 2025-26 and 2026-27 while broadcasting an impressive tally of fifty-five games annually from that competition. Furthermore, it covers Spain’s top-tier LaLiga until 2032, sharing the rights with DAZN. England's Premier League is also shown in the Spanish market by DAZN, a partnership that began last summer and will continue through 2027-28.

Movistar Plus' recent rights-based activity includes a deal with FIBA, basketball's international governing body. This agreement was unveiled earlier this month and will run until 2029. Movistar Plus continues to expand its sports broadcasting portfolio, providing Spanish fans with access to some of the most exciting soccer competitions globally. The addition of FA Cup coverage promises to bring even more thrilling action to viewers across Spain.
