Thuram's comment about Micah's "tight" outfit led to Richards storming off stage

In a surprising turn of events, CBS favourite Micah Richards abruptly left the studio set following an unexpected response to a question during a Champions League semi-finalist interview. The incident left his colleagues amused and the audience intrigued.

Inter Milan's Marcus Thuram was the cause of Richards' embarrassment after Wednesday's Champions League action. The Premier League champion found himself so taken aback by Thuram's comment that he felt compelled to leave the CBS set in despair.

Richards, along with Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher, were interviewing Thuram post his Inter side reaching the Champions League semi-finals. Following a 2-2 draw at home against Bayern Munich in the second leg, Inter won 4-3 on aggregate and secured another two-legged showdown with Barcelona.

Unexpected comment

Thuram - known for referring to Arsenal legend Henry as "Uncle" due to familial ties - complimented Henry on his suit before attention turned towards Carragher and Richard's attire. Upon being asked for his opinion on their suits, Thuram remarked that Micah’s outfit looked "a bit tight." This comment sent Richards over the edge leading him to storm off stage.

Henry and Carragher were taken aback by this unexpected jibe from their 'nephew'. While they managed to contain their surprise, it was clear that they appreciated Thuram’s sense of humour. Despite causing quite a stir with his remark, Thuram tried to diffuse tension by pulling Richards back into conversation. He offered up apologies saying: "Why is it always you, Micah? I'm sorry, I'm sorry." To which Micah responded: "Why always me? I can't catch a break."

It isn’t uncommon for former Manchester City and England defender Richards to be at receiving end of jokes in his broadcasting work. However, these jibes usually come from his colleagues and less so the talent.

Budding rivalry?

Thuram's candid comment may have sparked a budding rivalry between him and Richards. As Inter Milan progresses further in the Champions League, it will be interesting to see how this dynamic evolves.

Inter Milan, led by Simone Inzaghi, will kick off their semi-final tie with a trip to Barcelona on April 30. Thuram - Inter's top Serie A scorer this season with 14 goals - is hoping to make his mark in Europe after scoring just three Champions League goals so far this campaign.
