Gvardiol recently scored brace against Fulham to keep City’s on route for PL title

Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic has recently lauded his teammate, defender Josko Gvardiol, for his striking prowess. This comes after Gvardiol scored twice during the Cityzens' 4-0 victory over Fulham.

Kovacic was full of praise for his fellow countryman, stating that he possesses the ability to play as a striker. This comment came in light of Gvardiol’s impressive performance against Fulham where he bagged himself a brace.

Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic, said:

“He [Gvardiol] is playing unbelievable. I knew him already for a long time now and his quality is unbelievable. He can play up front or at the back, [he’s] an unbelievable player and guy. I’m very happy for him to score these goals.”

Gvardiol has been on an impressive scoring run since April, netting five times in all competitions this season. His scoring spree began with a spectacular goal against Real Madrid in the first leg of City’s Champions League quarter-final. He then found the back of the net in subsequent league fixtures versus Luton Town and Nottingham Forest before adding two more at Craven Cottage.

Guardiola foresees bright future for Gvardiol

City boss Pep Guardiola also had high praises for Gvardiol following their win over Fulham. He humorously referred to him as the “best winger on the planet” while expressing admiration for how he scored his first goal.

Guardiola further complimented the Croatian international by saying that Manchester City made an “incredible signing” who will benefit them greatly in future seasons.

High returns from summer transfer business

The Premier League champions invested heavily to bring Gvardiol to Etihad at £77.6m at the start of this campaign and it appears that their investment is paying off handsomely.

Kovacic himself has seen significant improvement since joining from Chelsea last year. After initially struggling to make an impact, he has become increasingly important in recent weeks, starting four out of their last five league matches.

Manchester City's summer transfer business is proving to be a wise investment. The addition of players like Gvardiol and Kovacic has not only strengthened their squad but also added an unexpected scoring threat from the backline. This versatility could prove crucial in their quest for more silverware in the coming seasons.
