The RFEF have granted LaLiga the authority to sell the rights for all rounds of the Copa del Rey, excluding the final match

Spanish league, LaLiga, has announced a long-term agreement with Peak Sport Media agency to sell the international rights of the Copa del Rey knockout competition. The partnership aims to enhance the tournament’s visibility and revenue in overseas markets.

Starting from the 2025-26 season, Peak will manage the sale of the tournament’s international rights to foreign broadcasters. This move is part of LaLiga's strategy to broaden its audience base beyond Spain and increase its global footprint.

The announcement came as LaLiga launched a rights tender on November 21 for broadcasting rights across several international markets. The bidding process is set to close on December 4. LaLiga has been authorized by RFEF national federation to sell all rounds' rights except Copa del Rey final. The domestic tender for these rights was initiated in early October with a deadline set for October 22.

Domestic broadcasting rights secured

Shortly after this announcement, Spanish public service broadcaster RTVE secured a significant package of domestic broadcasting rights for upcoming seasons. It will broadcast 116 matches from each campaign during both 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons.

Pay-TV giant Movistar+ also joined RTVE in showcasing Copa del Rey action after agreeing on a sub-licensing deal that allows it to broadcast at least 55 games throughout the current season (2025-26). Furthermore, Orange, an international telecoms operator, added itself as another domestic broadcaster shortly afterward.

About Peak Sport Media agency

Peak Sport was established in 2023 as a joint venture between advisory firm Ocho Sport and LaLiga. Since then it has expanded its client portfolio which now includes top-tier organizations such as Italy's Serie A, Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), and North American basketball's NBA.

Earlier this year, Peak announced three strategic hires to its European team to aid its international growth. These included Margherita Schiatti from Real Madrid, Ed Fleet as the new head of sales, and Kenza Del from EY France in a senior strategy role. The RFEF national governing body recently secured the future of the Copa del Rey by announcing Seville as the host city for finals until 2028. The matches will be played at Estadio de la Cartuja, currently home to LaLiga club Real Betis while its primary stadium undergoes renovation.

The 2025-26 Copa del Rey campaign started on September 27 and will run through until the final in April 2026. This partnership with Peak Sport Media is expected to significantly increase international viewership and revenue for one of Spain's most prestigious football tournaments.
