Manchester City loanee, Kyle Walker, has expressed his interest in a permanent move to AC Milan as Massimiliano Allegri returns as the club's manager. This comes after Walker's successful loan spell at the Italian club during the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.
Despite initial doubts about his future with AC Milan, Walker seems open to extending his stay. He played 16 times for Milan during his loan period from Manchester City but it seemed unlikely that he would be signed permanently. However, speaking at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday, when asked about a potential future with the club, he responded positively saying "yes, yes maybe".
Impact of Allegri's return
The return of Massimiliano Allegri to San Siro could potentially alter Milan's transfer plans significantly. Known for his intent on returning the club back to its glory days atop Serie A, Allegri’s appointment might just be what tips the scale in favor of a permanent deal for Walker.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Walker will not be part of their squad for the Club World Cup matches which makes him almost certainly available for a permanent deal.
Extending top-level career
Walker was speaking at Grand Prix as part of England squad set to play Andorra in an upcoming World Cup qualifying match in Spain on Saturday. At 35 years old and currently boasting 95 Three Lions caps under his belt, extending his top-level career could help him reach an impressive milestone - hitting 100 caps.
Walker is hopeful about featuring against Andorra and also in England's subsequent friendly match against Senegal this month before negotiating a permanent move back to Italy.
While there are still negotiations ahead and decisions yet unmade regarding Kyle Walker’s future football career path; one thing is clear - his potential permanent move to AC Milan could be a game-changer for both the player and the club. With Allegri back in charge, Walker's experience and skill set could prove invaluable in helping AC Milan reclaim their position at the top of Serie A.
