Chelsea boasts a strong record at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, winning five of their last six North London visits

Chelsea are set to face its fierce rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, in the Premier League fixture this Saturday evening. This match-up brings back memories of a brutal dig fired by John Terry at James Maddison, revealing the deep-seated animosity between these two teams.

Chelsea have an impressive record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having won five out of their previous six visits to North London. However, they arrive with mixed form this time around. They managed a narrow victory over Wolves in the Carabao Cup following a disappointing home defeat against newly promoted Sunderland.

On the other hand, Thomas Frank has made an impressive start at Spurs. He has successfully guided his team to third place in the Premier League after just nine games.

'Battle of The Bridge' and continued animosity

The rivalry between Chelsea and Tottenham is one of English football's most heated fixtures. One memorable clash was back in May 2016 when Chelsea famously ended Spurs' title hopes in a fiery encounter dubbed as 'Battle of the Bridge'. This long-standing animosity was reignited earlier this year when Spurs midfielder James Maddison took a dig at former Chelsea captain John Terry following Tottenham's Europa League victory.

After Spurs secured a 1-0 win over Manchester United, despite missing out on playing in the final himself, Maddison came onto pitch fully kitted up - drawing comparisons with Terry during Chelsea's Champions League victory back in 2012. Maddison humorously posted a photo captioned: "To kit. Full @johnterry.26 mode. Anything to say tonight John?"

John Terry responded swiftly: "I remember my first trophy; ah bless them." He then added: "Get tequila out. Great season from you boys, you should all be proud! 16 [trophies] to go. After that performance, I think you have a chance. You just have to live for 900 years." Terry concluded his response by posting a photo of his personal trophy cabinet, boasting five Premier League titles, five FA Cups and a Champions League.
