FIFA, the international governing body for football, has expanded its collaboration with tech giant Globant. The partnership aims to launch a mobile app in time for the 2026 World Cup and enhance FIFA's digital platforms.
The primary focus of this extended agreement is to develop a mobile application before the 2026 World Cup. This move signifies FIFA's commitment to leveraging technology in enhancing fan engagement during one of the most significant events in global sports.
In addition to creating a new mobile app, Globant will also work on improving FIFA’s existing digital platforms. These improvements will include AI and generative AI-driven enhancements that aim at providing an enriched user experience.
AI-Driven enhancements
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been making waves across various industries, including sports. By incorporating AI into their digital platforms, FIFA aims to offer fans more personalized experiences based on their preferences and behaviors. Generative AI could potentially create unique content tailored specifically for individual users.
FIFA secretary general, Mattias Grafström, said:
“This new agreement between FIFA and Globant reflects each organisation’s vision to reimagine how football is experienced in the digital era, while preserving the emotion, community and global reach that bring the game to every corner of the world. We look forward to continuing our cooperation with Globant as we build digital services that make our tournaments even more engaging and enjoyable for fans.”
Another exciting aspect of this partnership is the creation of a player data marketplace. This platform will serve as a unified, secure hub where federations, clubs, and partners can publish and exchange football data globally. It represents an innovative step towards promoting transparency within football while also providing valuable insights that could help improve performance levels across teams worldwide.
Tournament supporter role
Globant's involvement with FIFA extends beyond technological advancements; it also includes supporting key tournaments as part of its role as Tournament Supporter in North America and Europe for both men's World Cup 2026 and Women’s World Cup 2027.
Furthermore, Globant will extend its support to other crucial competitions such as December’s FIFAe Finals 2025 in Saudi Arabia along with the next U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in 2027.
This expanded agreement between FIFA and Globant signifies a significant step towards the digital transformation of football. By leveraging advanced technologies like AI, FIFA aims to enhance fan engagement, promote transparency within the sport, and provide valuable insights to federations, clubs, and partners worldwide. As sports fans eagerly await the upcoming tournaments, they can also look forward to experiencing these technological advancements firsthand.
