Football fans have been spoiled with two top international tournaments, Copa America 2024 and Euro 2024, running simultaneously since mid-June. However, as these prestigious tournaments wind down, soccer enthusiasts may feel a void in their viewing schedules. Fear not! ESPN+ is set to fill that gap by broadcasting over a dozen European friendlies before July ends.
The Copa America and Euro 2024 are currently in the semifinal stage and will conclude on Sunday, July 14. Despite the end of these competitions signifying a break in international soccer on our Tvs., ESPN+ has ensured there's no pause for football fans.
Just six days after the champions of both tournaments are crowned, Wrexham will feature on ESPN+'s streaming service. The Welsh side has grown significantly in recent years due to its commercial success from the hit FX show "Welcome to Wrexham." As part of this growth trajectory, they're set for a North American tour.
High-profile matches lined up
The first fixture featuring Wrexham comes against Premier League side Bournemouth on July 20th - marking ESPN+'s first European summer friendly broadcast. Following this match-up is reigning English champions Manchester City facing Scottish powerhouse Celtic three days later.
Wrexham will once again grace screens when they face Chelsea on July 24th - an eventful day as Arsenal also kick off their summer schedule against Bournemouth. Liverpool then takes centre stage against La Liga club Real Betis two days later under new head coach Arne Slot.
Flurry of top friendlies to end the month
Saturday, July 27 promises an exciting line-up with Chelsea facing Celtic at 4 PM ET followed by Manchester United taking on Arsenal an hour later in California. Finally rounding off the day's action, Manchester City will play AC Milan on the East Coast.
One of the most anticipated summer friendlies in the States sees Manchester City face LaLiga giant Barcelona on July 30. The month ends with a bang as ESPN+ broadcasts four fixtures on July 31: Club America vs Chelsea, Liverpool vs Arsenal, Manchester United vs Real Betis, and AC Milan vs Real Madrid.
