ESPN, the heavyweight sports broadcaster, has once again secured broadcasting rights for the UEFA European Women's Championship national teams tournament across Spanish-speaking Latin America. This development is part of a broader multi-year agreement that extends ESPN's coverage of various UEFA tournaments until 2028.
The deal includes broadcasting rights to a range of under-21, under-19, under-17, and Futsal UEFA tournaments. The Disney-owned broadcaster had previously covered the 2022 edition of the Women's Euro held in England. The upcoming 16-team 2025 UEFA Women's Euro will take place from July 2 to July 27 across Switzerland.
Coverage will extend across Mexico, Central America, and South America through a combination of ESPN linear networks specific to each market and via the Disney+ streaming service.
Expanded coverage for youth tournaments
In addition to women’s soccer events, this tie-up also covers both women's and men's under-17 and under-19 UEFA tournaments scheduled for 2025 through to 2028. It also includes coverage for Futsal Euros and men’s Under-21 Euros.
Sport24 - an in-flight entertainment service owned by international sports agency IMG - secured exclusive rights earlier this month. Indian streaming service FanCode was also unveiled as a partner in June.
For US audiences, Disney+ will stream action while Fox will provide additional coverage for the Women’s Euro tournament.
Other sports covered by ESPN & Disney+
ESPN along with Disney+ broadcasts other women-centric sports across Latin America including North American soccer leagues like NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) and Liga MX Femenil; basketball league WNBA; golf; cycling among others.
Women's soccer is witnessing a steady rise in popularity in Latin America. This growth is further highlighted by Brazil's selection as the host for the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time, scheduled to take place in 2027.
ESPN’s renewed commitment to broadcasting women’s soccer and other sports events across Central and South America not only reflects the growing popularity of these sports but also ensures that fans have access to their favorite tournaments from anywhere.
