In a recent development, Borussia Dortmund full-back Yan Couto is reportedly being linked with a move to the Italian Serie A club, Como 1907. The news comes from renowned transfer journalist Matteo Moretto who revealed that negotiations are underway for the Brazilian defender.
If the transfer goes through, it would provide Couto with an opportunity to play in the prestigious Champions League next year. This would not be his first experience on such a grand stage as he has previously played in this tournament representing Borussia Dortmund (BVB).
Couto was initially seen as an integral part of Niko Kovač's side at the start of the 2025-26 season. He made five starting appearances and seemed poised to make his mark on German football. However, despite these promising beginnings, he ended up playing just 131 minutes across Dortmund's last ten Bundesliga fixtures of that campaign. The right-sided full-back has struggled to secure a consistent place in Kovač's plans and often found himself sidelined in favor of Julian Ryerson.
Potential roadblock?
While there seems to be interest from Como 1907, it remains uncertain whether Cesc Fàbregas' team is willing or able to meet Dortmund’s financial expectations for transferring Couto.
Dortmund originally paid Manchester City €25 million for acquiring Couto after he had completed a successful loan spell with Girona FC. Given this substantial investment and considering his potential talent and experience gained over time, it can be expected that BVB will seek an appropriate return on their investment. At just 24 years old, Yan Coutou still has plenty of time left in his career but finding regular playing time will be crucial for his development. A move to Como 1907 could provide him with the opportunity he needs to truly showcase his abilities, especially if it includes Champions League football.
