International pay-TV sports giant, BeIN, has renewed its media rights agreement for German soccer’s elite Bundesliga in France. The four-year extension will see the broadcaster showcasing the German soccer top-flight through the 2028-29 season.
The new deal includes every Bundesliga match as well as the season-opening Super Cup competition and the season-ending promotion and relegation playoffs. This comprehensive coverage ensures that French fans won't miss a moment of their favorite teams' action on the pitch.
In addition to live matches, BeIN will continue airing Europe Arena magazine show which examines highlights of Bundesliga fixtures each week. This means that even if fans can't catch every game live, they'll still be able to keep up with all major developments in Germany's top-tier league.
Long-standing partnership
This latest renewal brings the total broadcast partnership between BeIN and Bundesliga to an impressive 15 years. It's a testament not only to their successful collaboration but also to French fans' growing interest in German football.
Bundesliga International managing director, Peer Naubert, said:
“Bein Sports has a strong international presence and we are proud to be working with a long-standing partner in a constantly evolving market. France is by far the most represented non-German nationality in the Bundesliga."
He noted that there are currently 34 players from France - making up 12% of all Bundesliga players - featuring prominently in recent campaigns. Among these are French national team stars such as Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman (all Bayern Munich), along with rising talents like Castello Lukeba (RB Leipzig), Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt), Enzo Millot (VfB Stuttgart).
BeIN becoming dominant force in sports broadcasting
BeIN is a leading sports broadcaster in France, holding rights to numerous elite soccer championships. These include the country’s Ligue 1 and second-tier Ligue 2 domestic soccer championships, Spain’s top-flight LaLiga, and England’s FA Cup knockout competition and EFL lower tiers.
Most recently, BeIN also secured the rights to European Rugby Union’s Champions Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments. This diverse portfolio of sports coverage ensures that BeIN remains a go-to destination for French sports fans.
In addition to broadcasting games, BeIN engages in promotional activities around Bundesliga league including sending fans to Germany for fixtures. This commitment to fan engagement helps foster a deeper connection between French audiences and German football.
