ITV will air live games on TV, ITVX, and across its social media platforms

The BBC and ITV have successfully secured the broadcasting rights to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. This move ensures that the largest tournament in women's football will remain accessible to UK audiences without any paywalls.

In a unique arrangement, both broadcasters will share coverage of the games. The group and knockout stages will be evenly split between them, ensuring a diverse range of coverage for viewers. However, both channels will broadcast the final match live, allowing fans multiple viewing options for this highly anticipated event.

Niall Sloane, ITV director of sport, said:

"The Fifa Women's World Cup 2027 is sure to be another standout tournament and we look forward to continuing our relationship with both Fifa and the BBC,"

Comprehensive coverage across platforms

BBC Sport is set to provide extensive live coverage across its various platforms. Viewers can watch matches on TV or stream them on iPlayer. Additionally, updates and highlights will be available on their website as well as radio and social media platforms.

Similarly, ITV plans to broadcast live games on TV along with comprehensive coverage across social media platforms and ITVX. In an added bonus for England fans, all of England's qualifying matches and friendlies leading up to the tournament will also be aired by ITV. The 32-team tournament is scheduled to kick off on June 24th, 2027 with a month-long series of exciting matches concluding on July 27th. Spain currently holds the title of world champions after defeating England in a nail-biting final match during the previous World Cup held in 2023 with a scoreline of just 1-0.

The securing of broadcasting rights by both ITV and BBC ensures that UK audiences will have free-to-air access to all the action from the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. This move not only promotes accessibility but also encourages a wider audience to engage with women's football.
