Hansi Flick looks to get his team back on track in their race for the title as they face relegation-threatened Valencia

Barcelona enjoyed a phenomenal first few months of this season and looked certain to run away with the La Liga title, but those days already seem so far away. Buoyed by their dramatic 5-4 comeback win away at Benfica in the UCL in midweek, Barca will hope to put struggling Valencia to the sword and close the gap on Real Madrid a the top of the table.

Valencia come into this game having picked up a valuable 1-0 win over Real Sociedad last time out, but things still look very bleak at the club as fans continuously protest the ownership of Peter Lim. Relegation would be catastrophic for the club but it looks more realistic this season than any of their torrid campaigns of the last several years. A shock win away at Barcelona could be the catalyst for change, and Barca are not above dropping points against lower-ranked teams of late.

Barcelona captain and Uruguay international Ronald Araujo put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the club on Thursday. As the Catalan giants continue to fight against financial peril via a series of lever-pulling shenanigans, keeping hold of their best players will remain a priority, making this a fantastic bit of news for the club.

Valencia recently dipped into the Premier League to pick up Bournemouth winger Max Aarons on loan for the rest of the season. Carlos Corberan will hope that his arrival can give them something extra as they head into the business end of what could be one of the most disastrous seasons in the club’s illustrious history if they are to be relegated.
