This deal enables ProSiebenSat.1 to broadcast a chosen match from the first round to quarter-finals live and free on Joyn and Puls 4

The ÖFB Cup, Austria's premier domestic soccer knockout competition, is set to receive broader free-to-air coverage following a new deal with commercial network ProSiebenSat.1.

ProSiebenSat.1 has secured an additional package of rights for the next four seasons, starting from the 2026-27 season. This agreement will allow a selected match (second choice) from the first round through to the quarter-finals to be broadcast live and free on ProSiebenSat.1’s Joyn streaming service and on the Puls 4 linear channel.

Notably, streaming coverage of matches will not be behind Joyn Plus' paywall, making it more accessible for fans across Austria. The deal with the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) runs until the 2029-30 season and includes a total of four exclusive live matches per year. These games will provide fans with an opportunity to witness some of Austria's most exciting football action without any cost.

Shared rights with ORF

ProSiebenSat.1 will share broadcasting rights with ORF, Austria’s public service broadcaster that currently shows most ÖFB Cup matches across its platforms - free-to-air, radio and online.

ORF had earlier this month secured its own deal with ÖFB which allows it to air all matches from the ÖFB Cup across its channels and platforms including at least 15 games per season broadcast live on its linear channel.

In addition to men's games, ORF also has rights for at least four matches from women’s edition each season as well as other fixtures streamed on its ÖFB TV platform typically covering early-round matches up until quarter-finals stage.

Expanded women's football Coverage

ORF’s new rights package also includes extensive coverage of women's football. This includes 24 games from the Women’s Bundesliga, all home games of the women’s national team, and the Austrian Women’s Cup (with at least four matches per season live on ORF). Moreover, all home games of the Austrian youth national team will be covered, with U21 home games to be shown live on ORF.

Thomas Gruber, co-CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4, said:

“We are delighted to expand our sports portfolio to include national soccer with the attractive ÖFB Cup. Sport is and will remain a key pillar of our diverse programming on Puls 4 and Joyn.”

This new deal between ProSiebenSat.1 and ÖFB is a significant step towards expanding access to domestic soccer competitions in Austria. It not only enhances free-to-air coverage but also ensures that more fans can enjoy live action from both men's and women's football across multiple platforms.
