Aston Villa player, Ezri Konsa, has been left behind as England gears up to face Albania. This development raises fresh concerns for the club's manager, Unai Emery.
Konsa has been on international duty with the Three Lions but did not travel with the squad to Albania for their World Cup qualifier on Sunday. The decision was confirmed by England boss Thomas Tuchel who announced that Konsa had been pulled out of the travelling squad.
Enlgand manager, Thomas Tuchel, said:
“Ezri has a tight calf and couldn’t finish training today. He will get further assessment in London and he’s stayed in London. We think it’s nothing, we don’t even think it’s an injury, but it’s just a discomfort and not worth the risk.”
“He (Konsa) arrived with a lot of minutes in camp so he was a candidate to maybe get a break,” added Tuchel, as he addressed the impact of Konsa’s absence on England. Now he’s taken the break and is forced to take a break, it’s not a problem.”
This news comes as a blow to both England and Aston Villa fans who have seen Konsa become an integral part of both teams' defensive strategies. His absence from such a crucial match indicates potential fitness issues that could impact his performance in upcoming games.
Impact on Aston Villa
The absence of Ezri Konsa is likely to be felt by his club team, Aston Villa. Under Unai Emery, he has proven himself as a reliable defender and key player in the team’s success. His potential unavailability due to health concerns could pose challenges for Emery in strategizing future matches without one of his ace players.
In another setback for Aston Villa, Lamare Bogarde has returned home after being deemed unfit to play for Netherlands under-21s during this international window. This double blow leaves Emery with two less options in defence ahead of their next Premier League fixture.
While it remains unclear what tests are being conducted on Ezri Konsa or how serious his condition might be, these developments undoubtedly add pressure on manager Unai Emery and raise questions about how he will navigate these challenges moving forward.
