Arteta has officially ruled out Gabriel Martinelli to keep him fit for big matches

In a recent development, Gabriel Martinelli, the 22-year-old Brazilian international, is set to miss Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match against Brentford. This news comes after Martinelli was forced off in the 64th minute due to an injury during Arsenal’s 6-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday evening.

Martinelli suffered a cut on his foot during the game against Sheffield United. Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, revealed this information post-match and mentioned that they would be monitoring his condition throughout the week. However, it seems that Martinelli will be rested for Brentford’s visit to the Emirates Stadium for Saturday’s 5:30 pm kick-off as he was not seen with Arsenals’ squad on the morning of the game.

On a positive note for Gunners fans though, Bukayo Saka who was replaced at half time against Sheffield United due to illness has been spotted with his teammates ahead of Saturday's match. Oleksandr Zinchenko too has made an appearance after missing out on Gunners' last five games.

Arteta also confirmed Raya will also miss Brentford clash due to clause

During Thursday's press conference when asked about Martinelli’s availability for Saturday's match-up against Brentford, Arteta had suggested that he expected him to recover in time. However, it now appears that this may not be case.

Arteta also confirmed another significant absence from his team - first-choice goalkeeper David Raya will not play against parent club Brentford due to loan agreement terms making him ineligible.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, said:

‘We have some players back last Monday, then we have Martinelli and Bukayo with little issues but we are pretty positive they will be part of that [team],’ Arteta said.

‘We have to wait and see how they do tomorrow [on Friday].

Upcoming matches will decide Arsenal’s fate in the title race

The stakes are high as Arsenal could go one point clear at the top of Premier League if they manage a victory over Brentford. This is especially crucial considering Liverpool vs Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday which could potentially shake up league standings further.

Post the Brentford clash, Arsenal faces a tight turnaround as they welcome Porto to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening. This match is the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. Arteta’s side will be looking to overturn the 1-0 defeat they suffered in Portugal last month, adding another layer of challenge and excitement for both players and fans alike.

While Martinelli's absence might be a setback for Arsenal, it opens up opportunities for other players to step up and make their mark in these crucial matches. The coming days are set to bring some exciting football action for sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike.
