Arsenal has a history of signing players from their London rivals, Chelsea. However, it is rare for them to bring in those who have their best days ahead of them. The only name that comes to mind in this regard is Kai Havertz, who was signed at 24 years old. Other notable additions include Jorginho, David Luiz, Willian, Petr Cech and Raheem Sterling.
Now it appears another Chelsea player has caught the eye of the Gunners - Noni Madueke. Initially dismissed as mere speculation on a slow news day when rumours first emerged about his potential move to Arsenal, several reliable sources have now confirmed that this could indeed be a reality.
As reported by Florian Plettenberg, talks have already begun between the two clubs and an offer has been submitted by Arsenal for the English winger.
Who is Noni Madueke?
Chelsea signed Madueke in early 2023 from PSV Eindhoven for a transfer fee believed to be around £29 million. Since then he has shown glimpses of immense quality but hasn't yet proven himself as a consistent performer.
Despite this inconsistency there are many aspects of Madueke's game that are appealing; he managed consistent playing time under manager Enzo Maresca last season and demonstrated versatility by playing in several positions across the pitch.
While parting ways with such a promising young talent may not seem like the best idea for Chelsea at present, if an attractive offer arrives they might consider it. Rumours suggest that they would want around £50 million for him - considering what they're set to pay for Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro this doesn't seem unreasonable. This summer transfer window promises to be an exciting one for both Arsenal and Chelsea fans as they wait to see where Madueke will end up.
