Ramsdale heavily linked to leave Arsenal in summer after losing place to David Raya

England international and Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, has taken to social media to dismiss reports of his imminent departure from the club. Despite ongoing speculation about his future and a potential move to Newcastle United, it seems that the shot-stopper is focused on staying with his current club for now.

Ramsdale's first season at Emirates was impressive as he ousted Bernd Leno as the club's number one goalkeeper. However, in the past year, the 26-year-old's fortunes have changed dramatically. He lost his place in the team to David Raya and has been forced into obscurity under Mikel Arteta.

Despite this setback and rumours of an exit circulating online, Ramsdale appears committed to staying with Arsenal based on his recent activity on social media.

Newcastle seriously following the situation

On Friday evening, rumours began circulating that Ramsdale was set for a move up north. Reports suggested that a deal between Arsenal and Newcastle United was advancing rapidly. The Magpies reportedly turned their attention towards Ramsdale after fellow England international Nick Pope suffered an injury.

However, these speculations were put to rest when Ramsdale took it upon himself to debunk them via social media platform X. In what marked his first post in over three months on this platform, he dismissed any suggestion of a move by stating it was 'news' to him.

Despite Ramsdale’s dismissal of these rumours through social media posts; some fans remain steadfast in their belief that a deal between Arsenal and Newcastle is nearing completion. According to Sky Sports' James Green via Daily Mail reportage; there are strong indications that such a deal is essentially done.

The ball handling of Raya won him the place

David Raya replaced Aaron Ramsdale as number one goalkeeper at Arsenal earlier this season after being loaned from Brentford. Raya has started in 31 of the Gunners Premier League games, keeping 16 clean sheets and winning the Golden Glove in the process. In comparison, Ramsdale kept 14 clean sheets last season, having started all 38 games.

However, it is believed that Arteta's decision to replace Ramsdale was not based solely on shot-stopping prowess. Instead, he wanted a keeper more comfortable with ball handling. Statistics show that this season Raya managed a pass completion rate of 70.48%, bettering Ramsdale's previous season rate of 63.38%.

Despite his commitment to Arsenal as indicated by his recent social media activity; there remains speculation about Aaron Ramsdale’s future at the club given his current out-of-favour status under Mikel Arteta’s management.

As such, while he may have debunked current rumours about a move to Newcastle United; it remains possible that he might still depart from Arsenal when the transfer window opens.
