Prediction: 1-2
Tip: Result- Everton
Key Points:
1. Hull City has lost two of their last three games in the Championship.
2. Hull City has won only three home games in the Championship this season.
3. Everton has one victory away win in the Premier League this season.
After enduring an inconsistent run of results in the Premier League, Everton will be looking for some respite when they travel away to Hull City in FA Cup on Saturday. Hull City also desperately needs a positive result after suffering poor results in the Championship during December.
Rafa Benitez has been under scrutiny ever since becoming the head coach of Everton six months ago. The Spanish manager has not been accepted by fans due to his past with Liverpool. Moreover, poor results in the Premier League have piled on more pressure on Benitez.
The festive period was not fruitful for Everton. The games against Burnley and Newcastle United were postponed due to coronavirus cases in squads. The Toffees suffered a deflating 3-2 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend to end a miserable festive period. Benitez’s men last won a game of football at the start of December when they hosted Arsenal in the Premier League.
Similar to Everton, Hull has also endured disappointing results during the festive period. They have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship during this busy period, while the game against Sheffield United was postponed. Hull started the year on a negative note as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat away at Blackpool.
Everton and Hull City are currently just above the relegation zone in the Premier League and Championship, respectively. Both sides desperately need a good performance and victory on Saturday to relieve some pressure on players and managers. The pressure on Benitez is even more ahead of the clash against Hull City since Everton is favourite to win this game.
The quality of the Everton squad will give them a slight edge over Hull City. We are backing the Toffees to clinch a narrow victory on Saturday and book a place in the next round of the FA Cup.
