Wayne Rooney, the former England captain and renowned footballer, has embarked on a new journey in his career. Less than two months after being sacked by Plymouth Argyle Football Club, he has returned to coaching. However, this time around, his role is significantly different from what it used to be.
Rooney's new job involves coaching children at a Middle East resort for Football Escapes. This marks a stark contrast from his previous position in the Championship dugout. Rooney's tenure with Plymouth was short-lived; he parted ways with the club on New Year's Eve after serving as manager for seven months. His stint was marked by a series of disappointing performances that saw him win just four out of 23 Championship matches.
This included an unfortunate run of one win in his final 14 matches before dismissal, leaving Argyle at the bottom of the Championship table. Since then, Miron Muslic took over and managed to pull off three wins in eight matches across all competitions since taking charge.
Luxurious coaching experience
The former Manchester United star is now completing a short residency at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates - an iconic resort known for its luxurious yet family-friendly atmosphere.
The hotel promises 'world-class coaching' from Rooney himself as part of their package which blends "exciting football sessions" with luxury living experiences. As per their website description: "While children learn from one of football’s most celebrated players, parents can relax by the private beach or indulge in fine dining."
However, this unique experience comes with quite a hefty price tag - prices for a family of four averaging between £7,500 and £8,650.
Balancing act
Interestingly enough though this Dubai-based role isn't Rooney's first job since leaving Plymouth. The 39-year-old has also been involved in a punditry gig for Amazon Prime in their live coverage of Manchester City's Champions League defeat to Real Madrid last week.
Rooney’s new role signifies a fresh start after his challenging stint at Plymouth. It offers him an opportunity to leverage his vast experience and skills in football, while providing young enthusiasts with the chance to learn from one of the sport’s most celebrated players. Despite the high cost, this unique blend of luxury and learning promises an unforgettable experience for families who are passionate about football.
