Tottenham Hotspur, one of England's top football clubs, is intensifying its search for a new number ten to replace James Maddison. The club has now added a promising French youngster to their wishlist as they seek to bolster their attacking midfield options.

Dejan Kulusevski, another key player in Tottenham's lineup, is set to miss the first month of the upcoming season due to injury. With Maddison also joining him on the treatment table, Spurs fans are growing increasingly anxious about securing a swift replacement as the new season looms.

Over recent weeks, several attacking midfielders have been linked with potential moves to Tottenham. However, with Maddison’s recent ACL tear exacerbating matters further, there has been an increased urgency in finding his replacement.

Monaco starlet Maghnes Akliouche on Spurs' radar

According to reports, even before Maddison’s injury setback occurred, Spurs had already been scouting for potential replacements. Now that need has become more pressing than ever.

The report reveals that Monaco youngster Maghnes Akliouche is currently being scouted by Tottenham Hotspur. However, it remains unclear whether he is an active target or not.

Akliouche had an impressive run last season scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions. Despite primarily operating on the right wing and only occasionally playing as number ten position - his versatility could be valuable asset for Spurs.

Other potential targets

Previously Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey was thought to be attracting interest from Spurs but he no longer seems like an active target according to reports. In addition to Akliouche and Ramsey other names have surfaced over recent weeks including Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss and Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott who are also reportedly on Tottenham’s radar.

However, securing either of these players could prove challenging as competition for their signatures intensifies. Aston Villa, Sunderland and Leeds United have all made enquiries over El Khannouss while RB Leipzig is currently in talks over a deal for Elliott.

As the new season draws closer, Tottenham Hotspur's search for a new number ten to replace James Maddison continues to intensify. With several potential targets on their wishlist and competition heating up, it remains to be seen who will eventually don the Lilywhite jersey as their next number ten.
