Radu Dragusin has reportedly decided to stay and fight for his place

Tottenham Hotspur defender, Radu Dragusin, has reportedly made a decision regarding his future with the North London giants. This comes amid speculation about a possible exit in January due to his limited game time. The Romania international, who was purchased from Genoa for £20.8m midway through the 2023-24 season, has had limited opportunities to showcase his skills on the field. He has made just three starts in all competitions this season, only one of which was in the Premier League.

One of these starts came during Spurs' Europa League fixture with Qarabag - an unfortunate evening for Dragusin as he was sent off after just seven minutes due to a last-man foul. Since then, he played full-time against Newcastle United at the start of September but has only managed nine minutes in top-flight games since then.

Despite signing a six-and-a-half-year agreement when joining Tottenham in January - meaning that his current contract is not due to expire until 2030 - Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven remain the undisputed starters in central defence when fit.

No plans for a mid-season exit

Before becoming a Tottenham player, Bayern Munich and Napoli attempted to hijack the deal. The latter is reportedly among several Serie A clubs hoping to bring him back to Serie A this coming January.

However, according to reports, despite limited game time and interest from other clubs, Dragusin does not plan on seeking an exit from North London midway through this season.

The report suggests that more opportunities may arise for him over winter months during Europa League and cup competitions. His commitment towards Tottenham remains unwavering as he focuses on being the best defender possible while ignoring constant exit talks.

Other potential exits?

Since leaving Genoa, Dragusin has made 13 appearances for Spurs and even scored for his country in a 3-0 UEFA Nations League victory over Cyprus during the October international break. While Dragusin seems set to ignore interest from Bayern and former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte - now at Napoli - Tottenham may try to offload another out-of-favour defender in January.

Sergio Reguilon, an exiled left-back who failed to secure an exit during the summer transfer window, is likely to seek a new club over winter after failing to fit into Ange Postecoglou's plans.

Meanwhile, long-serving Davies could potentially leave on a free transfer in 2025. However, it is expected that he will stay until summer and see out his contract. Despite limited game time and rumours of potential exits from Tottenham Hotspur, Radu Dragusin remains committed to the team. His focus lies on improving as a defender rather than seeking opportunities elsewhere.
