The future of Rodrigo Bentancur at Tottenham Hotspur is not entirely certain, according to Jack Pitt-Brooke from The Athletic. As Spurs gear up for a significant squad revamp this summer, the Uruguayan midfielder's position in the team hangs in the balance.
Tottenham Hotspur is planning a major squad overhaul this summer under manager Ange Postecoglou. The Spurs boss has acknowledged that some tough decisions will have to be made, with several good players potentially being sold and replaced by those who better fit his system (Fox Sports).
A recent report by The Telegraph suggested that both Richarlison and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are expected to leave Tottenham this summer. Furthermore, it was hinted that Yves Bissouma could also be on his way out if an attractive offer comes in.
Bentancur’s inconsistency has raised the questions
Adding fuel to these speculations, Pitt-Brooke backed up claims about Richarlison and Bissouma being potential departures. He further suggested that Bentancur might also be let go as part of the club's restructuring plan.
Pitt-Brooke, The Athletic reporter, said:
“Yeah so I would say there’s a huge question mark over Bissouma and there’s a medium question mark over Bentancur.
“I know it’s not his fault due to injuries, but he hasn’t looked very good this season. I would say there’s definitely a question mark over Richarlison as well.”
Bentancur joined Spurs from Serie A club Juventus during last year’s winter transfer window but has struggled to make a significant impact since his arrival. His inconsistent performances have raised questions about whether he fits into Postecoglou’s long-term plans for the team.
As Tottenham prepares for a busy summer transfer window, several players' futures remain uncertain - including Rodrigo Bentancur's. While nothing is set in stone yet, it seems likely that there will be some significant changes as Postecoglou aims to reshape his squad according to his vision.
