Prime Video is gearing up for the launch of its new docuseries, "Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues," on 1 August. The series, co-executive produced by Steven Knight, follows the journey of Championship football club under a new American ownership group that includes NFL legend Tom Brady.
The five-episode series will be available immediately upon release and promises an in-depth look into the fortunes of Birmingham City Football Club under its new American consortium. The project was conceived by Tom Brady and Religion of Sports co-founder Gotham Chopra after Brady joined as a minority owner in 2023.
The docuseries offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes view with embedded camera crews following first-team players, coaching staff, and key ownership figures. These include head coach Chris Davies; chairman Tom Wagner, who also serves as co-founder and co-managing member of Knighthead Capital Management LLC; and minority owner Tom Brady.
Showcasing cultural heritage and fanbase
"Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues" aims not only to document the club's journey but also to showcase the cultural heritage of Birmingham city itself along with its passionate fanbase. This aspect adds another layer to this highly anticipated series making it more than just a sports documentary.
Steven Knight executive produces alongside Matt Alvarez (known for his work on "Straight Outta Compton", "Are We There Yet?", "Straight Outta LA", and "the Friday franchise") from Knighthead. Additionally contributing are club board members who have played significant roles in bringing this project to life. Religion Of Sports and Whisper are responsible for producing this exciting docuseries while Gotham Chopra shares directorial duties with Claudia Corbisiero (known for her work on Sven).
