Along with Salah, it's also probable that Virgil van Dijk will continue his stint at Liverpool beyond June

Liverpool Football Club is growing increasingly confident that star player Mohamed Salah will sign a contract extension beyond this summer. This follows significant progress in talks over recent weeks, providing a major boost for the club and its fans.

In addition to Salah, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is also likely to extend his stay beyond June. The Dutchman confirmed earlier this week that progress had been made regarding securing his future at Anfield.

Both players have been instrumental in Liverpool's success this season, with the club closing in on a record-equalling 20th top-flight title under manager Arne Slot.

Stellar performances from Salah and Van Dijk

Salah and Van Dijk have been ever-present figures in the Premier League this season. With 27 goals from 31 appearances, Salah has proven his worth time and again while Van Dijk's defensive prowess has helped Liverpool concede only 30 goals so far - putting them comfortably atop the Premier League table, 11 points clear of Arsenal with seven games remaining.

Despite their advancing years - with Salah turning 33 in June and Van Dijk hitting 34 in July - neither player has missed a game through injury under Slot’s management.

In November last year, there were concerns about Salah’s future at Liverpool when he stated he was “probably more out than in” after not receiving a new contract offer. However, he also expressed his desire to remain at the club where he earns £350k per week as basic salary. Talks with Salah’s representatives had started before November but without any formal contract being proposed for approval by the Egyptian forward who joined Liverpool back in 2017.

Ignoring interest from elsewhere

Salah has attracted interest from other leagues including Saudi Pro League but appears set to ignore potential offers from elsewhere. Like Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, he has been free to negotiate with foreign clubs since the turn of the year.

However, among these three players, only Alexander-Arnold seems set to depart Anfield with a move to Real Madrid poised to be completed.

Liverpool's confidence in retaining their key players signals a promising future for the club. The potential contract extensions of Salah and Van Dijk will undoubtedly boost morale and performance as they continue their quest for more silverware.
