The German playmaker is on radar of Premier League giants for summer

Bayern Munich player, Jamal Musiala, has reportedly rejected a new contract offer from the German champions as he sets his sights on a move to the Premier League. This news comes amidst interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.

Musiala, a former Chelsea and Southampton youth product, has evolved into one of Europe's most sought-after young talents during his tenure at Bayern. At just 21 years old, he has already played 153 times for the Bavarian giants. His impressive record includes 40 goals and 27 assists, with nine goals and four assists coming from just 28 matches in the current season (2023-24).

The young playmaker boasts an impressive list of team achievements including four Bundesliga titles, one Champions League title and a Club World Cup victory. However, Bayern's reign over German football is now threatened by Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern's disastrous season hasn't convinced Musiala either

Thomas Tuchel’s side have won only one out of their last four games in top-flight football. They were held to a draw by Freiburg recently which leaves them trailing seven points behind leaders Leverkusen having played an extra game.

Bayern also faces challenges in their Champions League campaign with a deficit against Lazio in their last-16 tie. Their bids for glory in both DFB-Pokal and German Super Cup ended prematurely this season which puts them at risk of ending without any trophies.

Musiala signed his most recent extension at Allianz Arena back in 2021 with just over two years left on his current terms. As Premier League heavyweights monitor the situation closely, efforts to secure another deal for him have been intense but unsuccessful according to reports from Daily Star.

Liverpool and Man City are keeping a close eye on the situation

Both Manchester City and Liverpool have reportedly sent scouts to watch Musiala in action during Bayern's 3-0 loss to Leverkusen on February 10. At that time, the playmaker had a £150,000-a-week offer from his current club.

Musiala is said to have declined Bayern's proposal as he eyes a return to England. Premier League champions Manchester City believe they are leading the race for the former England youth international after being informed of his contract rejection at Allianz Arena.

However, Liverpool also intends to compete with Pep Guardiola’s side for Musiala. Chelsea too has not given up hope of bringing back their former youth player despite their current lack of European football potentially hindering their chances.

Should Bayern admit defeat in retaining Musiala's services, they will demand at least £80m for the playmaker. His wage packet is expected to cost around £200,000 a week as well. This potential move could significantly shake up both German and English football scenes.
