Eurovision Services, a leading provider of broadcast services, has recently secured a deal with the French soccer governing body, Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP). This agreement positions Eurovision as the global distributor for France's top-tier Ligue 1 and second-tier Ligue 2 matches. The contract between Eurovision Services and the LFP is set to span three years. It will commence immediately with the ongoing 2024-25 season and extend through to the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
Martin Aurenche, chief media officer at LFP Media arm, said:
“Eurovision Services’ technology and experience are exactly what we need to bring the best of French soccer to our global audience.”
This partnership will see over 1,200 hours of live French soccer being distributed globally by Eurovision Services. The distribution will be facilitated via an array of satellite, cable, and Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) technology.
Major clients of Eurovision Services
Eurovision Services boasts an impressive portfolio of major clients in various sports sectors. These include motor racing’s Formula 1, North American basketball’s NBA, English football's top division Premier League, European soccer governing body UEFA. Additionally they serve motor cycling’s motocross promoter Infront Moto Racing and Super League Triathlon.
Previously owned by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), an alliance of public service broadcasters; ownership transitioned when EBU sold its services business to Munich-based private equity firm Dubag Group in 2023.
The EBU created Eurovision Services in 2018 as a dedicated entity for providing broadcast services on a global scale. Today it operates offices across North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia employing around 250 staff members worldwide.
Delivery mechanism
Eurovision delivers satellite fiber and IP feeds to broadcasters via its proprietary network - The Eurovision Global Network. This network also feeds content directly to streaming services around the world, ensuring a broad and diverse audience can access the content.
This new partnership between Eurovision Services and LFP is set to bring French soccer to a global audience. With its advanced technology and extensive network, Eurovision Services is well-positioned to deliver high-quality broadcasts of Ligue 2 and Ligue 1 matches for the next three seasons. This deal not only enhances the visibility of French soccer but also adds another feather in Eurovision's cap as it continues to expand its client base in the sports broadcasting sector.
