The anticipation among FIFA/EAFC fans always reaches a fever pitch ahead of the launch of their annual releases, from the pre-sales to full release. EA FC 25 has been no different.
The game has enjoyed a wonderful start in the US, topping September's US software chart following its record-breaking launch. The game has outperformed its predecessor, EA FC 24, and even managed to surpass the much-hyped Astro Bot in terms of sales.
According to market research firm Circana data, EA FC 25 saw double-digit percentage growth compared to the launch month of EA FC 24 in September 2023.
This impressive performance led it to achieve the highest US launch month dollar sales of any football game released so far.
Astro Bot entered the chart at No.2 as a PS5 exclusive and is currently ranked as the 25th best-selling game of 2024 so far. Other new releases that made it into September’s top-20 chart include Switch exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom at No.4, NBA 2K25 at No.7, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 at No.18.
It's important to note that these results are based solely on physical sales since publishers Nintendo, Take-Two and Focus Entertainment do not share digital sales data.
NHL was another new entry ranking ninth, while Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics came in sixteenth place.
In terms of console performance for September; PS5 remained dominant both in unit and dollar sales with Xbox Series X/S coming second in dollars and Switch second in units sold respectively.
Digital PS5 consoles now account for approximately one-fifth (18%) of total life-to-date unit sales for this platform while Xbox Series X sales make up the majority (51%) of total Xbox Series console sales in the US.
EA FC 25's record-breaking launch has set new standards for football games while also contributing significantly to the gaming industry's revenue.
