DAZN strengthen their footprint in football with this long deal

DAZN, the renowned international sports streaming service, has successfully extended its broadcast rights deal with Spanish men's soccer’s LaLiga in Italy and Portugal. The extension is set to last for another five years, ensuring exclusive coverage of 380 LaLiga matches per season until the end of the 2028-29 campaign.

The long-term renewal will allow DAZN to continue providing both live and on-demand coverage of Spain's top men's league. This agreement not only includes primary league games but also extends to Spain’s second-tier Segunda Division. Furthermore, it encompasses promotion playoffs and additional content such as highlights, news, and analysis.

Javier Tebas, LaLiga president,said:

"At LaLiga, we always look for best-in-class partners to deliver Spanish football to fans everywhere. And we are delighted to continue working with DAZN in countries with the historic football tradition that Italy and Portugal have.”

DAZN and La Liga building a strong association

DAZN has held LaLiga rights in Italy and Portugal since 2018. The platform's coverage in Portugal also includes previous broadcasting rights from pay-TV operator Eleven which was acquired by DAZN in 2023.

LaLiga features several Portugal national team players including Barcelona's Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo, Villarreal's Gonçalo Guedes, Real Sociedad's Andre Silva, and Real Betis' William Carvalho. These players have a significant fan base in their home country which makes this deal even more valuable for DAZN.

Jorge Pavão de Sousa, the managing director of DAZN Portugal, said:

“We’ve been working with LALIGA since 2018 and we’re proud to renew our agreement with one of the competitions most admired by the Portuguese.”

La Liga experiencing increase in value globally

In addition to Portugal and Italy fans, DAZN also broadcasts the top Spanish league domestically under a five-year agreement that began last season. This expansion further solidifies its position as a leading sports streaming service globally.

This extended partnership between DAZN and LaLiga ensures that fans across Italy and Portugal will continue enjoying exclusive access to their favorite matches until at least the end of the 2028-29 season. With both live games from Spain’s premier leagues along with second-tier Segunda Division matches, promotion playoffs, and additional content such as highlights, news, and analysis, DAZN is set to provide a comprehensive sports viewing experience for its subscribers.
