CazéTV will replace global powerhouse ESPN for Ligue 1 matches

CazéTV, a popular Brazilian YouTube channel managed by renowned streamer Casimiro Miguel, has successfully acquired the rights to broadcast French soccer's Ligue 1 matches in Brazil. This three-year agreement will be effective until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The new deal replaces ESPN's coverage on its Star+ streaming service. This acquisition is part of a series of recent purchases by CazéTV, which includes broadcasting rights for the Europa League and Conference League matches until the end of the same season.

CazéTV hold rights to many big events

In addition to these acquisitions, CazéTV also holds broadcast rights in Brazil for several other major sporting events:

  • The Paris 2024 Olympic Games
  • Athletico Paranaense's home matches in this season's Brasileirão
  • The Futsal World Cup 2024
  • The National Futsal League 2024

Currently, CazéTV is covering UEFA Euro 2024 national team soccer tournament taking place in Germany after securing its rights last year.

CazéTV’s package of rights was negotiated by agency LiveMode that manages this channel as a joint venture with Miguel. With over nine million subscribers currently, it has live-streamed significant events like 22 FIFA World Cup matches of 2022 edition and last year’s Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Boosting Ligue 1 popularity among Brazilian fans

Ligue1 features several Brazilian players such as Marquinhos and Lucas Beraldo at champions Paris Saint-Germain; Vanderson and Caio Henrique at Monaco; Ismaily (Lille), and Dante (Nice). This deal is expected to boost the popularity of Ligue 1 among Brazilian fans.

The agreement with CazéTV comes as a relief for Ligue 1, which has been seeking a solution for its unsold domestic rights ahead of the new season. The French Professional Football League (LFP) recently proposed creating an in-house dedicated Ligue 1 channel and Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) service that will broadcast all domestic games.
