Make sure you don't miss out on watching the beautiful game during your visit to MCR

Manchester is the home of two of the most iconic football clubs in the world - Manchester United and Manchester City. What's more, MCR is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the UK, welcoming more than 119m visitors per year.

Many of those tourists will be football fans, perhaps some even looking to head to Old Trafford, the Etihad or the National Football Museum.

If you're in Manchester on a trip and want to take in some football on TV in a fun and exciting atmosphere, we've got the best five options for you right here:

The Director's Box

A popular choice among football fans visiting the city, The Director's Box offers a huge amount of big screens throughout the bar, making it very easy to follow the action. Also, fans can use their mobile app to order food without leaving their table, so you'll never miss a goal waiting at the bar. The Premier League, UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Scottish Premiership, and much more, including other sports, grace the screens at the Director's Box every day. This bar is well worth your time if you're looking to watch football.

You can find The Director's Box on Booth Street, just a stone's throw from the famous Arndale Shopping Centre.

The Bierkeller

A self described 'sports bar', you don't get much better than The Bierkeller in Manchester if you're looking to watch the game. They show everything you could imagine in terms of sports on TV. Their projector screen and other big screens mean they can even show multiple different sports at once. What's more, they offer specific deals for different seats around the bar. For example, you can get their Executive Box package for £35m, which gives you a table directly in front of a big screen, drinks and food. The Bierkeller is a fantastic spot for watching football in Manchester.

You can find The Bierkeller in the iconic Manchester Printworks, the urban entertainment hub which attracts tonnes of visitors to the city every week.

Tib Street Tavern

This one is packed with fans before and after every big game. It's the place to go if atmosphere is top of your wish list. With plenty of screens to follow the match and a great food and drink selection, it's little wonder this place is teaming every weekend. A great choice especially if you've just been to a live game at one of the two big Manchester clubs.

You can find Tib Street Tavern in the world famous Northern Quarter area of the city.

Shack Bar & Grill

If you're up for a bit of fun, look no further than the Shack. They offer pool tables, beer pong, darts and a bunch of other pub games to enjoy before or after the match you're watching. Then when it's time to get down to business, you can enjoy the game like a regular or book you and your friends a private booth with your own private TV to enjoy the match in peace.

The Shack Bar & Grill is also located in the Northern Quarter.

Sir Ralph Abercromby

Despite the high-society-sounding name, the Sir Ralph is the most traditional and down-to-earth choice on this list. With Sky Sports available in the pub, you can watch most big games from the Premier League here. It's popular among locals so if you want the real Mancunian football watching experience, especially before or after a matchday trip to the Etihad or Old Trafford, this is your spot. What's more, they also have screens located outside, so in the spring and summer you can even enjoy the match out in the fresh air. If it rains, they've got you covered too, literally.

You can get to the Sir Ralph Abercromby on Bootle Street, in the centre of the city, close to the Manchester Opera House.
