Bayern Munich have shown interest in signing Liverpool's 17-year-old winger, Rio Ngumoha. The German side has made inquiries about a potential move for the teenager, although no face-to-face discussions have taken place yet.
Ngumoha is currently at a preparation camp in Florida as a supplementary member of the England squad. He is believed to be aware of the interest from Germany, but no final agreement over personal terms has been reached yet.
The young star scored two goals on his Premier League debut in August, including a late winner in a 3-2 victory at Newcastle United. He also registered one assist during the 2025-26 campaign. His debut was under former Reds' manager Arne Slot during a 4-0 win over Accrington in the FA Cup back in January 2025. At just 16 years and 135 days old at that time, he became the youngest player to start a match for Liverpool. This achievement alone speaks volumes about his potential and talent.
Liverpool's stance on Ngumoha
Despite Bayern Munich’s interest, sources close to Liverpool insist that Ngumoha is not available for sale and is viewed as an important member of their first team who operates in an area they are trying to strengthen. Liverpool themselves have shown major interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande who could potentially provide competition for Ngumoha next season if signed by them. However, it remains uncertain whether this deal will materialize given Liverpool's stance that their young star isn't up for sale.
Ngumoha left Chelsea’s academy back in September 2024 to join Reds and signed his first professional contract with them exactly one year later. In February of last year (2026), it was ruled by tribunal that Liverpool had to pay at least £2.8m to Chelsea for the winger.
The fee could potentially rise through add-ons if certain conditions are met. Additionally, Chelsea will be owed 20% of the profit if Liverpool decides to sell Ngumoha in the future. As it stands, Bayern Munich's interest in Ngumoha adds another layer of intrigue to his already impressive young career. However, with Liverpool seemingly unwilling to let go of their rising star and potential incoming competition from RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, only time will tell what lies ahead for this promising player.
