Amazon has announced an upcoming documentary series that will take viewers behind the scenes of Birmingham City Football Club (FC) during its triumphant campaign to secure promotion to the Championship. The yet-to-be-titled series is set to launch in Summer 2025 on Prime Video, available in over 200 countries worldwide.

The documentary will follow the journey of Birmingham City FC as it climbed up the football pyramid, focusing on its efforts to instill a winning culture within the club. Cameras were embedded with first-team players, coaching staff, and key ownership figures from pre-season through to their successful promotion. Among those featured are Tom Wagner, co-founder and co-managing member of Knighthead Capital Management LLC and chairman of Birmingham City; and American football legend Tom Brady.

Beyond showcasing day-to-day football operations, this documentary aims at exploring the cultural heritage of Birmingham City FC and its loyal supporter base who have remained steadfast despite a prolonged period without success or silverware. The series promises to shine a light on this community’s resurgence while illustrating how plans for transformation are being driven by the football club.

Production team behind the scenes

The creator of Peaky Blinders and lifelong Blues fan Steven Knight will serve as an executive producer for this project alongside Matt Alvarez (Straight Outta Compton), who is also a board member at Knighthead Capital Management LLC.

Religion of Sports (Rodgers: Enigma) and Whisper (Sven) are set to produce this highly anticipated docuseries. The project was conceived by Tom Brady along with Religion of Sports co-founder Gotham Chopra after Brady became a minority owner at Birmingham City in 2023. Co-directing duties for this exciting new series will be shared between Chopra and Claudia Corbisiero (Sven).

This upcoming documentary series promises to offer sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts a unique, in-depth look at the inner workings of a football club on its journey to success. With its focus on both the sporting and cultural aspects of Birmingham City FC, it is set to be an engaging watch for all football lovers worldwide.
