Ryan Sessegnon’s career so far has been plagued with many injuries

In a significant setback to Tottenham, star player Ryan Sessegnon has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury. This is yet another "devastating" blow to his career, according to reports.

Sessegnon underwent surgery on his right hamstring on 26th February after suffering from a series of muscle injuries. The most recent one occurred during an under-21 match against West Ham on 17th February. This marks the second time within 12 months that Sessegnon has had to undergo surgery, with the previous operation in July being performed on his left hamstring.

Tottenham does not anticipate that Sessegnon will be able to participate in first-team action again this season. He is now expected to return for pre-season training ahead of the 2024-25 campaign following a lengthy period of rest and rehabilitation.

Sessegnon could've been a good option on bench for Spurs

The absence of Ryan Sessegnon will undoubtedly be felt by Tottenham this season. Despite making only one senior appearance this year – as a late substitute in Spurs’ 1-0 FA Cup match against Burnley in January – he was seen as an integral part of Antonio Conte's team before his initial hamstring setback forced him onto the sidelines last February.

Since joining Spurs from Fulham in 2019 for a reported £25 million, he has made significant contributions with three goals and four assists across 57 appearances.

Tottenham need to showcase consistency to clinch CL spot

While it's clear that Spurs will miss their star player’s presence on-field, they have shown resilience despite these setbacks. Currently sitting fifth in Premier League table after their recent home win against Crystal Palace (3-1), they are set up well for their next match against Aston Villa at Villa Park on 10th March.

The loss of Sessegnon is indeed a blow to Tottenham, but it also presents an opportunity for other players to step up and fill the void. As fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike watch closely, the team's performance in the upcoming matches will be crucial in determining their standing this season.

While Ryan Sessegnon's injury is a significant setback for both him and Tottenham, it opens up opportunities for others. The team’s resilience will be tested as they navigate through the rest of the season without one of their star players.
