Manchester City legend thinks Salah will stay at Liverpool despite speculations

Former Manchester City captain, Micah Richards, has made a daring prediction about the future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. Despite being in the final season of his current deal and dropping hints about his departure, Richards believes that Salah will remain with the club beyond this season.

Salah's recent comments following Sunday's dominant victory in Manchester United match have stirred up concerns among fans. Speaking to Sky Sports, he stated that this is 'my last year' at the club. This admission from the Egyptian forward has sparked fears among Liverpool supporters that their talisman might be nearing an Anfield exit. However, Richards offers a different perspective. He firmly believes that despite being 32 years old, Salah will continue to play for Liverpool beyond this campaign. One key reason behind this belief is financial - according to him, it would be unaffordable for Liverpool to let go of such a valuable player like Salah.

Manchester City legend, Micah Richards, said:

"I think he is going to stay, I think there was an opportunity for him to go last year, a Saudi club was linked with him. Obviously, Mane went out to Saudi. But I just think, 'what’s the point in selling Salah?'

"He’s in the best shape of his life, he's ripped, he still works hard, he still changes games. I think he will sign a new deal. I think he will sign for another two years. I don’t think Liverpool could let him go for a free, especially with the shape he’s in,”

No signs of slowing down

Despite entering his eighth season with Liverpool and having a new manager in Arne Slot at the helm, Mo Salah continues to prove how indispensable he is for Reds. His performance has been instrumental in spearheading Liverpool's perfect start to the Premier League 2024/25 campaign as we enter into first international break. The Egyptian forward already boasts three goals and three assists amid ongoing discussions about whether or not he should be offered another big-money deal by Liverpool.

Salah’s performance shows no signs of decline; instead it epitomises the phrase 'age is just a number'. His impressive statistics reflect his dedication towards maintaining fitness and sharpness on field which makes him an invaluable asset for any team. There are strong indications suggesting that staying at Anfield would be his preference - if so it presents a massive decision-making challenge for the club. If he continues to stay, it wouldn't be far-fetched to predict that he will continue to break records and contribute significantly towards Liverpool's success.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Mo Salah's future at Liverpool, Micah Richards remains optimistic about his stay. His prediction offers a glimmer of hope for fans who are anxious about losing their star player. However, only time will tell if Salah will indeed remain with the Reds beyond this season or if Liverpool will make the tough decision of letting him go.
