Kyle Walker is reportedly looking to leave City after his recent snub

Manchester City captain, Kyle Walker, is reportedly considering leaving the club in the upcoming January transfer window. This news comes after seven-and-a-half years of service to the club by the veteran England international.

Walker, aged 34, has been a part of Manchester City since his transfer from Tottenham in 2017. His tenure at City has been marked with significant achievements including six Premier League titles and a Champions League victory against Inter Milan in 2023.

However, this season has proven to be more challenging for both Walker and his team. The loss of Rodri due to injury coupled with a slump in performance both domestically and internationally have seen Walker frequently benched by coach Pep Guardiola.

Possible return to Sheffield United

The versatile defender has often been associated with a potential return to Sheffield United - where he began his professional career. Despite having a contract that extends until summer 2026 with Manchester City, there are speculations that he might leave sooner than expected.

According to reports from The Mail, Walker is currently assessing his options. He isn't alone as fellow teammates Matheus Nunes and James McAtee are also believed to be contemplating their future at the club. In their last game against Leicester, Guardiola gave Walker a chance on field for twenty minutes which resulted in just their second league clean sheet since October end. This win helped them climb back above Bournemouth into fifth place but they still have some ground to cover before returning back into top four contention.

There have been rumors about interest from clubs outside England as well; AC Milan being one such name previously linked with an attempt for acquiring him. However, it seems like Bramall Lane could be where he sees himself next given its significance as his starting point in professional football
