Caicedo has failed to live up to his hefty price tag of £115 million so far

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister recently shared his thoughts on former Brighton & Hove Albion teammate Moises Caicedo's decision to join Chelsea, despite a lucrative offer from the Reds. The two players, who once shared the same dressing room at Brighton, will face each other in the League Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, February 25.

Mac Allister and Caicedo both left Brighton last summer for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively. However, they could have remained teammates had Caicedo not turned down an attractive £110 million bid from Jurgen Klopp's side. Despite having their bid accepted by Brighton for the Ecuador international, Liverpool was left stunned when he rejected their offer.

Instead of joining Anfield, Caicedo chose to sign with the Chelsea squad for a slightly higher fee of £115 million. This decision has been a topic of discussion among fans and pundits alike.

No grudges against the former Brighton midfield partner

Mac Allister has now opened up about his former midfield partner's surprising choice. Although he didn't reveal much about what transpired behind closed doors during transfer negotiations, it is clear that he respects Caicedo’s decision.

Liverpool midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, said:

"It's a personal decision, that's what he chose and that's completely fine. He's an amazing player, a really good guy so I wish him all the best - but not on Sunday! "

The World Cup-winning midfielder also expressed his commitment to Liverpool saying that he wants to give everything to win as many trophies as possible with them.

Alexis Mac Allister added:

"The World Cup helped me to realise that I really want to win more trophies, so this is a big opportunity. It'll be my first final with Liverpool and first opportunity to win something. So it's going to be something very special for me and the team. We need to go out there, do our best, play the game we want to play and try to win."

The Argentine midfielder yet to showcase his real touch for Reds

After joining Jurgen Klopp's side for a reported fee of £35 million which could rise up to £55 million with add-ons, Mac Allister has made quite an impact in his new team. The Argentina international has already made 28 appearances for the Reds scoring twice and producing four assists.

On the other hand, since snubbing Liverpool and moving over to Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Stamford Bridge instead; Moises Caicedo hasn’t disappointed either. He has so far made 31 appearances for Chelsea.

As the Carabao Cup final approaches, all eyes will be on these two former teammates. Their individual performances could very well decide the outcome of this highly anticipated match. Regardless of where their loyalties now lie, it's clear that both Mac Allister and Caicedo are committed to giving their best for their respective teams.

While Caicedo's decision to snub Liverpool in favour of Chelsea was surprising at the time, both players have since proven their worth at their new clubs. As sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts eagerly await the upcoming League Cup final, they will undoubtedly be watching these two players closely.
