Liverpool legend will return to punditry ahead of Euro 2024 with ITV

Liverpool legend and renowned football pundit, Graeme Souness, is set to make a triumphant return to television work for Euro 2024 this summer. This comes almost a year after his surprising exit from Sky Sports, where he had been a mainstay for 15 years.

Souness will be back on TV screens this summer following his departure from Sky Sports last May. The Scot made a brief return earlier in the season when he provided analysis on Manchester United's dramatic 4-3 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup. He also worked on England's friendly win against Scotland at Hampden Park and has regularly appeared on talkSPORT.

The reports suggest that Souness has now been signed up by ITV for Euro 2024 and will start with the opening game of the tournament between Germany and Scotland on June 14.

Souness will join an All-Star punditry team

Souness will join an all-star ITV punditry team including Joleon Lescott, Jill Scott, Eni Aluko, Joe Cole, Karen Carney, Ian Wright, Gary Neville and Roy Keane. They are set to provide comprehensive analysis throughout the Euros.

Graeme Souness, Liverpool legend, said:

"I'm going to miss you guys, the guys behind the scenes, our make-up girl, I'll miss you all. You know, for me, I decided that football management wasn’t for me any more. I had the wrong temperament for it, the wrong personality.

"And then I was given the opportunity to do this and it’s been magnificent. It’s just been the most fantastic time for me, because I love football, I care about football and I worry about it going forward.

"But in Sky’s hands it’s in good hands, safe hands, and I think over the years we’ve created a Premier League with great detail and I think we look after football very well."

Sixteen Euro group matches, the first three games, England's final group game against Slovenia, picks one through three of the Round of 16 and the highly-anticipated group meeting between Spain and Italy will be broadcast on ITV.

Souness isn’t finished with his punditry career

Despite leaving Sky Sports, Souness never formally retired from punditry. In fact, he stated that he is "still very much open for business". The 70-year-old confirmed his exit from the broadcaster following Liverpool vs Tottenham at the end of last season, an announcement that was visibly emotional.

Graeme Souness added:

"I will never retire.

"I will be retired when the phone stops ringing. I know we have to be very careful with what words we choose now, but you must be as honest as you possibly can, consistently. And just be real. That is becoming more and more difficult for the guys who are doing it now."

Souness has also previously voiced concerns about the level of scrutiny on pundits in today's game. However, he vowed not to give up on his scathing opinions in modern football analysis.

Graeme Souness' return to television work marks a significant moment for sports fans and sports betting enthusiasts alike. His insightful analysis and candid opinions have always added depth to football discussions. As Euro 2024 approaches, viewers can look forward to engaging commentary and expert insights from one of football's most experienced pundits.
