We sit about a quarter of the way into the domestic season in Europe and some of the biggest clubs in the world have already broken clear in their respective leagues. However, some divisions are still very tightly contested, with fans eager to use sportsbook promos to pick a winner.
There have been some surprises, huge dips in form and very strong starts across Europe. This has led to fascinating title races opening up in often unexpected ways.
Here are the current frontrunners to win their respective league titles across Europe's top five divisions, according to the bookies.
Premier League
Nobody ever expects Manchester City to drop off a cliff but that's exactly what they have done of late in the Premier League. On the back of suffering four successive defeats for the first time in his career, Pep Guardiola has a lot to ponder as he looks to rejuvenate his injury-weary squad.
This has enabled Arne Slot to lead his Liverpool (13/10) team to the summit and open up a five-point lead over City and establish themselves as the favourites to win the title this year.
Usual suspects City are now 23/10, and Arsenal fall further behind at 4/1, after having an even worse start to their campaign. After pushing City to the limit the past two seasons, Mikel Arteta's side now sit 4th in the table behind London rivals Chelsea and are almost certain not to trouble the title race going forward.
Arne Slot has done a fantastic job to continue the good work of Jurgen Klopp since taking over at Liverpool. He has kept the ship steady and allowed his players to put in solid, if not too flashy, performances and capitalise on the stuttering starts of City and Arsenal, who were expected to once again dominate the Premier League title race this season.
Liverpool are very hard to bet against right now.
Serie A
The title race in Italy is the most exciting in Europe so far this season without a doubt. Napoli, Atalanta, Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Juventus and Lazio are all practically neck and neck at the top of the table.
Despite this hotly contested battle between six great teams, reigning champions Inter Milan (5/6) remain favourites with the bookies to prevail come the end of the season.
Of the rest of the chasing pack, there is great value to be had in taking a look at Napoli (3/1), who are reborn under new manager Antonio Conte and Atalanta (6/1) who are building on the positive feeling of their UEFA Europa League victory last season under the everpresent Gian Piero Gasperini.
This one is very close to call and the odds reflect that. Simone Inzaghi's Inter side will have to work very hard to shake off a chasing pack of five to retain their Serie A title.
Bundesliga
Unlike Serie A, this race is all but sewn up with Vincent Kompany set to capture his first title in one of Europe's top 5 leagues.
Bayern Munich (1/14) are already running away with it and are justifiably clear favourites to win the Bundesliga this season. Bayer Leverkusen (11/1) have had a drastic comedown from their heroics last season which saw them do the unthinkable and win the German title.
Xabi Alonso may be wishing he had left on a high as this Bayer side have performed terribly in the league and in Europe, and look almost certain to drop off.
The high odds for Leverkusen and RB Leipzig (18/1) reflect the lack of belief from anyone that either of these teams can trouble Bayern as the giants look set to return to the Bundesliga summit.
La Liga
Barcelona (4/6) have opened up a decent lead over their rivals Real Madrid and are favourites to win the Spanish title.
This may come as a surprise. The arrival of Hansi Flick has breathed an unexpected new life into the Catalan sleeping giants, allowing them to outperform their greatest enemy with aplomb so far this season, including battering them in the latest edition of El Clasico some weeks ago.
Real Madrid brought in Kylian Mbappe in the summer to add to their embarrassment of riches, but the likes of Mbappe, Bellingham and Vinicius Jr are being outshone by the latest crop of young heroes to emerge from the La Masia academy.
Given Barcelona's crippling financial issues, nobody would have expected Flick to mastermind a hefty title challenge, especially as Real Madrid continue to assemble every one of the most highly-rated players on EA FC into one super-team, but that's exactly what he's done so far.
We will have to see if they can keep it going but for now, Barca are the favourites to lift the La Liga title, with Real (6/5) and Atletico (28/1) trailing behind them.
Ligue 1
The French top flight is by far the most predictable on this list.
Paris Saint-Germain (1/12) are as always the favourites to win the title and are already surging away from the closest pretenders in Monaco (17/2) and Marseille (33/1).
Having won 10 of the last 12 editions of the competition, this will come as little surprise. It will take a miracle from one of the other teams in the division to cause an upset, which does happen once every few years, but this does not look like being one of those years.
