The project will see A24 and Box To Box working closely with Liverpool FC as well as Karen Gill, Shankly’s granddaughter. Their collective aim is to ensure historical accuracy in portraying one of the most significant periods in the club's history.
Adding further credibility to this ambitious project is playwright and screenwriter Jack Thorne who has been attached to this multi-episode series. Set against 1960s Liverpool, Thorne's expertise promises a compelling narrative that captures both the spirit of that era and Shankly's transformative influence on the club.
Celebrating Bill Shankly
Bill Shankly holds a special place in Liverpool FC history. Arguably considered as their greatest ever manager, he was at helm from 1959 until 1974. During his tenure, he took charge of transforming Liverpool from a second-tier team into first division champions.
Karen Gill, Liverpool legend Shankly’s granddaughter, said:
