The Chelsea star has hired the same firm that got Pogba's four-year ban reduced to 18 months

Chelsea winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, has reportedly hired the same law firm that represented Paul Pogba in his successful appeal against a doping ban. This move comes as a response to Mudryk's recent failed drugs test.

On Tuesday morning, it was confirmed that 23-year-old Mudryk tested positive for the banned substance Meldonium last month. As a result of this finding, he has been provisionally suspended by the Football Association (FA).

Mudryk took to social media to insist on his innocence and announced measures he is taking to prove it. According to Mail Sport, these measures include hiring Morgan Sports Law - a specialist firm known for representing high-profile sports personalities in similar cases.

Morgan Sports Law precedent

Earlier this year, Morgan Sports Law represented former Manchester United star Paul Pogba when he faced a four-year ban after failing a drugs test while playing for Juventus. With their help, Pogba successfully appealed the decision and had his suspension reduced significantly from four years down to 18 months.

Pogba is now set to return to football in March 2025 after terminating his Juventus contract last month.

Road ahead for Mudryk

While Mudryk's 'B' sample is yet untested, he faces the potential of receiving a similar four-year ban if found guilty. However, with the support of Morgan Sports Law and their track record of success in such cases - including reducing bans like those initially imposed on players like Pogba - there may be hope yet for Chelsea’s young star. The substance at issue here – Meldonium – has been on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list since January 1st, 2016. Notably, tennis star Maria Sharapova tested positive for the same substance in 2016 and was subsequently handed a two-year ban.

Despite the looming threat of suspension, Mudryk remains determined to fight his case and return to the pitch as soon as possible. His hiring of Morgan Sports Law is a clear indication of his commitment to proving his innocence and continuing his football career.

The coming weeks will be crucial for Mykhailo Mudryk as he battles these allegations. With the support of Morgan Sports Law, he hopes to follow in Paul Pogba's footsteps by successfully appealing any potential ban. For now, sports fans and betting enthusiasts alike will be watching closely as this high-stakes legal battle unfolds.
