The Red Devils have long admired Amadou Onana and have initiated first talks with him

Manchester United, one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world, has reportedly expressed interest in signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. This move comes amidst the ongoing January transfer window and is part of a larger strategy to revamp their midfield.

The Red Devils are set to receive significant funding from Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS, which recently acquired a 25% stake in the club. However, this deal will take a few weeks for approval by the Premier League. According to reports, INEOS is keen on reshaping United's midfield sooner rather than later.

This could mean that current players like Casemiro and Scott McTominay may be leaving as Manchester United looks to bring in fresh talent. One such promising talent on their radar is Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana.

Onana has been an exceptional player for Everton since his arrival from LOSC Lille in summer 2022 for a reported €35 million. He has made 56 appearances across competitions for the Toffees and contributed three goals and three assists.

Onana can provide the skillset that McTominay and Amrabat lack

Manchester United have now initiated contact with Onana regarding a potential January transfer. The deal could also involve McTominay moving to Everton as manager Sean Dyche admires his skills greatly.

His versatility, athleticism, and ability on the ball have caught the attention of Manchester United scouts They had shown interest in signing him last summer but were restricted due to financial constraints.

Moreover, both clubs are currently dealing with Financial Fair Play (FFP) troubles; hence a player-plus-cash deal would suit both parties well.

If successful this move could significantly bolster Manchester United’s midfield while providing an exciting new opportunity for young starlet Amadou Onana. However, the deal's success will largely depend on the approval of the Premier League and how well both clubs can navigate their current FFP issues.
