Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, has recently hinted that the future of Oliver Skipp and Manor Solomon at Spurs will be decided by the players themselves. The two are currently contemplating whether to stay with Tottenham or seek opportunities elsewhere.
Oliver Skipp, a product of the Tottenham academy, had a challenging time securing starts last season. With the arrival of promising young talents Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray this campaign, competition for places is expected to intensify.
Earlier this week, The Telegraph reported that Skipp has expressed his desire to leave Tottenham in pursuit of regular game time. It is anticipated that his request will be granted. This news has sparked interest from newly promoted clubs Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town who are keen on securing the 23-year-old’s services. In addition to Skipp's potential exit, reports suggest that another player might also depart from Spurs temporarily. Manor Solomon could be loaned out as Tottenham plans to bring in another winger before the transfer window closes.
Postecoglou respects players' decisions
Postecoglou stated he would respect any decision made by players who feel they need a change in order to get their careers back on track. When asked about speculation over Solomon and Skipp's futures at Spurs during an interview with Football.London, he confirmed:
Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, said:
“A lot of those things are kind of in the player’s hands, where they see themselves and what they want from their careers. I have always had the same sort of thought process on those things.
“When they are with us, they are with us. That doesn’t mean things won’t change and you have to embrace and accept that as a manager that things change, while they are here, they are here. A lot of things dictate themselves and I do think that depending on the individual players, they’ve got a career that they have to manage themselves. Whether they think that this is the right place to keep progressing. I’ve always respected that a lot of those decisions also come down to them.”
This statement underscores Postecoglou’s understanding approach towards managing his team members' career aspirations. As we await official announcements regarding these potential moves within Spurs’ squad structure changes seem imminent as both players look for more playing time opportunities. The decisions of Skipp and Solomon will not only impact their individual careers but also the dynamics of Tottenham's team composition in the upcoming season
